BNP Meeting BNP-Police discuss venue
Dhaka, November 5: On December 10, BNP's divisional mass meeting will be held in Dhaka. However, the BNP leaders have not yet clarified their position regarding the location of the rally. On the other hand, the police also do not want to allow BNP to hold a rally anywhere other than Suhrawardy Udyan. In this situation, the leaders of the party are again discussing with the police to determine the venue of the rally.
On Sunday (December 4) afternoon, a delegation of BNP went to discuss with DMP Commissioner Khandkar Golam Farooq.
Speaking to reporters at the DMP headquarters after the discussion, Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Aman Ullah Aman said, "We have been saying from the beginning that we will hold a rally in Nayapaltan. We have discussed this with the police several times. Meanwhile, the police has given us a letter allowing us to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan. I came to discuss this matter."
BNP Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and a senior police officer have been asked to discuss and resolve this matter. They will discuss about the venue. This discussion can continue from Monday. Only then will the venue be decided.
Aman Ullah Aman claimed that the police are arresting BNP activists in connection with the mass gathering in Dhaka, "We have held 9 rallies in the country's divisional cities. There was no trouble anywhere. It will not happen in Dhaka either. Still, arrests are being made. These arrests are being made to stop the mass gathering."
Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP convener Abdus Salam said, "BNP is not a militant organization. Let the police catch the militants. We are not terrorists. Since November 30, 750 BNP leaders and activists have been arrested. Even though there is a case against them, all of them were on bail from the court. Still they have been arrested. We have told the DMP commissioner about these issues, these arrest operations should be stopped."
BNP Joint Secretary General Secretary Moazzem Hossain Alal, Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anyi and Organizing Secretary Advocate Abdus Salam Azad were present at this time.
Meanwhile, DMP said, BNP is now looking for a new venue for the rally without getting permission for the December 10th Dhaka Divisional rally in front of the party office in Nayapaltan, but the police hope that BNP will finally hold their rally at Suhrawardy Udyan.
