Dhaka, December 14: BNP has decided to change the date of the mass rally, the first programme of the simultaneous movement to bring down the government. BNP has decided to postpone the date of the mass rally in response to the Awami League's request as the ruling party's national conference is scheduled for December 24.

Selima Rahman, a member of the National Standing Committee of BNP's highest policy-making forum, said this on Tuesday (December 13) at 10:15 pm.

She said, "The date of the mass rally has been postponed. We talked about it. The date is supposed to be fixed today. But I don't know exactly when. One day after December 24."

Regarding the reason for delaying the date of the programme, she said that the Council (National Conference) of Awami League will be held on that day. That is why the date of the BNP's rally has been postponed. Earlier, BNP was requested not to hold a mass rally on the day of Awami League's national conference on December 24 to avoid unwanted conflict and fear.

On Tuesday (December 13), Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said at the preparatory meeting of the stage and decoration sub-committee at the political office of the Awami League president in Dhanmondi, that our national conference will be held on December 24. BNP has announced the mass rally programme on this day. It involves provocation or seeking conflict. Conflict must be avoided.

He said, "BNP's mass rally on the day of Awami League conference means trying to create conflict. Awami League leaders and activists from all over the country will come to Dhaka on December 24. Therefore, there may be a problem if BNP holds the rally on the same day. If necessary, BNP should go outside Dhaka and hold a mass rally."

In response to a question from journalists, Obaidul Quader said that diplomats fear conflict over these issues. Avoid conflict. He requested BNP not to give any provocation around December 24.
