BNP's campaign proven false in Gazipur city election: Obaidul Quader
Dhaka, May 27: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that BNP's campaign that fair and impartial elections are not possible under the present government has been proven false in the Gazipur City Corporation elections.
He said, "One thing has become clear in this election that BNP has been lying for so long. Their allegation that free, fair and impartial elections are not possible under this government has been proved false. Gazipur city elections have proved that free, fair and impartial elections are possible under the current government."
Party General Secretary Obaidul Quader said these things in a rally in front of Awami League's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue on Friday.
He said, "Democracy has won more than whether the Awami League candidate has lost. Sheikh Hasina has fulfilled her promise of fair elections."
Referring to the victory of democracy by holding fair elections in Gazipur, Awami League General Secretary said, "The people of the country were more happy than they would have been if the mayoral candidate of Awami League had won the Gazipur city elections, because of free and fair elections. I thank the Election Commission for this, thank the people and congratulate the winning candidate."
Pointing out that the elections of Gazipur, Narayanganj and Rangpur have been fair, Obaidul Quader said, "Like these, four more city corporation elections and the national elections will also be free and fair."
He said that a section of the country is defaming Sheikh Hasina day and night.
