Dhaka, Oct 26: Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, BNP's senior joint general secretary, said that the the party's general meeting will be held in front of the party's central office at Naya Paltan on October 28.

He said, "All the preparations for the mass meeting in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan in Dhaka on Saturday are almost complete. This is the right place. We have held peaceful rallies here several times."

He said these things at a press conference organized at the party's central office in Nayapaltan on Wednesday, October 25.

Criticizing the statements of the police officials about the mass rally, Rizvi said, "The metropolitan police officials are saying that BNP must hold a rally wherever permission is given. This kind of statement of the police officers proves that the people of Bangladesh are now subjugated. The activities of the political parties of Bangladesh, the expression of opinions - everything now depends on the police clearance!"

He said, "The anger of the Prime Minister and the police towards the opposition parties including the BNP is being expressed equally. They think that apart from Awami League, anti-government political parties are second-class citizens."

This spokesperson of BNP said, "Police officers are employees of the republic, they are not owners. How do they decide where to hold political party meetings? BNP is a responsible political party, which has experience of running the country several times. This group does not know where to gather? Such statements by police officers are obstruction and direct interference in the meetings and gatherings of political parties."

Rizvi also said, "Government ministers and police officials want to make Dhaka metropolis a place of terrible fear with the October 28 mass meeting."

He said that the leaders and workers of all levels of the party will stay in their respective areas after October 28 to make the next programme announced from the Dhaka convention a success.
