Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Nov 2: Prime Minister's Information Technology Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy said that the BNP-Jamaat coalition government's model of democracy was tyranny, torture, and oppression of the opposition. During their tenure, the peaceful gatherings of the opposition party Awami League were suppressed by restoring to lathi charge and lobbing tear gas.

He made the comments on his verified account Facebook page on Tuesday evening. Joy also added pictures of daily Janakantha's pictorial news to his post.

Joy said that after coming to power in 2001, the BNP-Jamaat coalition government carried out extensive torture and oppression on the party leaders and workers of Awami League.

He mentioned that they even obstructed any peaceful assembly or agenda of Awami League.

Sajeeb Wazed Joy said that the BNP government used to carry out sabotage attacks on the banner of the Nationalist Bastuhara Party through a small terrorist force and members of the police force used to throw tear shells there in order to suppress the gathering of the opposition.

He said, on March 29, 2002, this brutal news came out with a picture of Janakantha newspaper.

It has been seen that the police dispersed the workers by firing three rounds of tear shells at a peaceful rally of Awami League in Muktangan. Awami League President Sheikh Hasina was speaking at that time. At that time, along with the police, some mercenary terrorists attacked the leaders and workers of Awami League. These terrorists were used under the patronage of a Member of Parliament of BNP's Hawa Bhavan Syndicate called Nationalist Bastyuhara Dal. A section of these swindlers also act as carriers of the drug trade of the BNP-Jamaat godfathers.

At that time 20 leaders and activists including Matia Chowdhury, Segufta Yasmin Emily, Maria, Lipi, Shikha Helen, Mayor Hanif, Mokhrusur Rahman, Abdus Sattar were injured by the tear shell of the police.
