Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 4 December 2023: The High Court has granted anticipatory bail to Dhaka District BNP General Secretary Nipun Roy Chowdhury in eight separate cases filed in different police stations of the capital on charges of sabotage on October 28 mass gathering. She has been granted anticipatory bail till January 11. She has been asked to appear in the lower court within that period.

On Monday, a bench comprising Justice Habibul Gani and Justice Ahmed Sohel of the High Court gave the order. Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Nipun's father, heard the bail application in the court. He was accompanied by his younger brother, Barrister Debashish Roy Chowdhury. On the other hand, Deputy Attorney General Asaduzzaman Monir was on the side of the state.

The attorney general's office will decide whether to appeal or not. He was granted bail in seven cases filed in the capital's Ramna and Paltan police stations and one in the Dakshin Keraniganj police station.

Advocate Nitai Chowdhury confirmed the matter of bail to the journalists. He said that numerous cases were filed against the party's leaders and workers in connection with the BNP's general meeting on October 28. Seven cases were filed against him in Ramna and Paltan Police Stations and one in Dakshin Keraniganj Police Station for allegedly attacking and vandalizing the Chief Justice's residence. If anticipatory bail is applied for in these cases, the court grants bail and orders.
