Dhaka, Feb 10: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has commented that BNP will have to pay for the mistake it made by not coming to the election.

He made this comment at a press conference organized at the political office of the Awami League president in the capital Dhanmondi on Friday afternoon.

The bridge minister said that Pakistan's democracy and Bangladesh's democracy are far apart. No country in the world has a caretaker, but Pakistan retains the so-called caretaker. The difference between the two countries is the way foreign powers, especially the western world, interfere with our country's elections, the visa policy is mixed, but in the case of Pakistan, there is no such interference.

He said that there was violence, vote rigging, fraud, and nine deaths in Pakistan's elections. Dozens of people have been killed in bomb blasts in the country's Balochistan.

Obaidul Quader said, "We follow the true form of democracy. The opposition did not come in the election, but the election was fair. We are not saying our democracy is 100 percent perfect. Democracies show that the Western world is not perfect either. Regarding the special extended meeting of Awami League tomorrow Saturday, the general secretary of the party said that the implementation of the election manifesto requires a strong unity of the party. The last election was free and fair. Independent candidates elected for strategic reasons. Sixty-two people were elected in the election. But they also belong to Awami League. There are many office bearers of Awami League."

He said that during the elections, there were some unfortunate incidents like misunderstandings, disagreements, conflicts and conflicts among themselves. There is a need for a strong unity in the party to put an end to these issues and to implement the election manifesto.
