Dhaka Airport Bomb recovered from Dhaka airport
Dhaka, December 20, 2020: Another General Purpose (GP) bomb weighing 250 kg was found during the ongoing piling at the construction site of the third terminal of Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Upon receiving the news, the trained bomb disposal team of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu rushed to the spot. They defused the bomb with the help of modern equipment.
The bomber struck shortly after 10:50 a.m. Saturday (December 19). According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Sources said the disposal team later took the bomb to a safe place to destroy it. According to bomb experts, the bomb, like the one recently found at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, was dropped in 1971 during the war of liberation.
Earlier, on December 9 and 14, two more 250 kg GP bombs were recovered in Shahjalal and deactivated.
