Booster Dose Week begins, country targets over 10 million shots

Dhaka, June 4: Booster Dose Week of coronavirus vaccine has starting from today (Saturday) to prevent the Covid-19 infection. The mass vaccination program of booster dose will continue till June 10. At this time, more than one crore people across the country will be given the vaccine, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Member Secretary of the Corona Vaccine Management Committee of the Health Department Md. Shamsul Haque said this on Friday (June 3). Earlier, the DGHS announced the celebration of Covid Booster Week from June 4 to June 10. Booster doses will be given from all permanent and temporary centers in the country from 9 am today.

"We have set a target of over one crore booster doses this week," said Shamsul Haque. "About four crore people are still waiting for us to take booster dose. Hopefully this week we will be able to give a booster dose to a large part of the waiters."

"We will continue to provide this vaccine as always," he said. "However, in this case, vaccinations will be given at permanent and temporary centers. Vaccination will be given in Medical College Hospital, District Hospital, Upazila Hospital among the permanent centers. Temporary centers will be run at the ward level of city corporations, at the ward level of municipalities, and at the ward level of unions in rural areas. Vaccination will be given for a whole week somewhere in the temporary centers, and again for two days in some places."

Meanwhile, the Booster Dose Week action plan released by the DGHS states that booster doses will be given at a total of 16,181 vaccination centers across the country. Of these, 623 are permanent centers and 15,558 are temporary centers. During the booster dose week, 45,535 immunization workers and volunteers will be engaged in immunization work simultaneously.

In the temporary centers where vaccination will be given for two days, the date of vaccination will be announced through local level publicity and miking.
