Dhaka, October 8: The United Kingdom has recognized Bangladesh's coronavirus vaccine certificate. This information has been given in a notification sent from the Bangladesh High Commission of the United Kingdom on Friday (October 8).

According to the High Commission, the UK Department of Transportation said in a statement that Bangladesh has been included in the list of the country's approved Covid-19 vaccine and certification. The recognition will take effect from Monday (October 11).

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen also gave the news in a message sent to the media on Friday morning.

He said, ‘Vaccine certification in Bangladesh is now recognized by the British authorities. Our mission has communicated with them and described our process and now they have recognized our vaccine certification. It will be effective from 4:00 am on Monday."

Welcoming the UK reaction, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Bangladesh Saida Muna Tasnim said the decision was a reflection of the warm bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom. This is the result of the High Commission's sustained diplomatic efforts to remove the remaining barriers to trade and travel between the two countries.

The High Commissioner said those taking a full dose of UK-approved vaccines would no longer need a 10-day hotel or home quarantine or Covid-19 pre-departure test from 4:00 am on Monday. However, those arriving in the country should get their Covid-19 test done on or before the second day.

Every traveller has to show the vaccination certificate issued by the Bangladesh authorities as proof of vaccination. Travellers who have not completed the full dose of the UK approved doses must stay in the quarantine for 10 days. They will have to test Covid-19 on the second and eighth day while they are in quarantine.
