BUET admission test witnesses record presence despite transport strike

Dhaka, November 8, 2021: Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has held (final) admission test in the graduation class of 2020-21 academic year.

The test was conducted in two phases on Saturday (November 8) at BUET Campus in the morning and afternoon. The attendance rate is more than 90 percent, the authorities said.

According to BUET, the admission test is held in two shifts, Module-A and Module-B. Module A is held from 10 am to 12 noon and Module B is held from 2 pm to 3:30 pm. Despite the strike of transport workers across the country, the admission test at BUET was completed in the presence of a record number of students.

Parents said that many candidates from different districts came to BUET campus on motorcycles to take part in the exam. The attendance rate of Module-A in the morning was 99.45 percent and the attendance rate of Module-B in the afternoon was about 90 percent.

Due to the global epidemic related to Covid-19, this year's admission test of Bangladesh University of Engineering was held in two stages through pre-selection and main admission test in accordance with the hygiene rules.

Pre-election examinations were held in four shifts on October 20 and 21. A total of 16,005 students applied for the BUET admission test. Out of these, 1500 candidates were selected in each shift to take part in the main admission test from among the candidates participating in the pre-selection test.

Students will be admitted in undergraduate classes in 12 departments under the faculties of Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Architecture and Planning. In this year's admission test, the number of candidates was 18,005 against the total of 1,215 seats including reserved seats. Of these, 12,315 are male students and 5,690 are female students.
