Dhaka, December 15: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) claimed that Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Fardin Noor Parash voluntarily jumped into the river from Demra Sultana Kamal Bridge.

According to RAB, this is what came out in the investigation after considering all other evidence including CCTV footage, and digital footprints.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, Director of the Legal and Media Wing of the RAB Headquarters, shared this information in a press conference organized at the RAB Media Centre in the capital on Wednesday (December 14) night.

He said that investigation is going on in the case filed after the recovery of Fardin's body. If there is any other source/signal related to Fardin's death, then the investigation officer will conduct the investigation taking it into consideration. Fardin jumped into the river voluntarily. He went there alone.

Fardin Noor Parash, a third-year student of Civil Engineering Department of BUET, was missing since November 5. Two days after his disappearance, the naval police recovered his body from Shitalakshya river in Narayanganj at around 6 pm on November 7.

Meanwhile, DB chief Mohammad Harun Or Rashid said that BUET student Fardin Noor Parsh committed suicide by jumping into the river out of frustration and money. On Wednesday (December 14) in a press conference, the DB chief gave this information.

He said, Fardin Noor Parsh was an introvert. Couldn't share everything with everyone. His results were getting progressively worse. First semester CGPA came to 3.15, then gradually 2.67, which no family or relatives knew. He needed Tk 60,000 to go to Spain to participate in a debating competition, which he was struggling to raise. Friends gave him Tk 40,000. Later he committed suicide under some kind of stress.

He said, Fardin used to do four tuitions. He paid all the money for his own and two younger brothers' education. He didn't do anything for himself. Still, there was pressure from the family to return home. Don't let it stay. He was under a kind of pressure about this, which he could not accept.

Regarding the movement of Fardin Noor Parsh on the day of the incident, the DB chief said, the way he wandered around like a madman showed that Fardin was mentally disturbed. He did not meet anyone that night. He targeted Babubazar Bridge. From 10:53 pm to 11:09 pm - Babubazar Bridge was very busy at this time so he probably retreated from there. Took time to talk to himself. Then crossed his house again and went to Demra bridge.
