Dhaka, June 16: In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus, all businesses in Jessore's Sharsha upazila, including Benapole, have been stopped after 5 pm and a 12-point restriction have been imposed. The ban was issued in a public notice on Tuesday (June 15). Sharsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mir Alif Reza said.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, coronavirus was detected in 22 out of the 30 sample tests in Sharsha. The infection rate was 73.33 percent. So far 621 coronavirus cases have been reported in the upazila. They have been placed in home quarantine. Sharsha Upazila Health Officer Dr Yusuf Ali confirmed the information.

"These strict instructions have been given as per the decision of the Upazila Corona Prevention Committee. From now on, everyone will have to wear a mandatory mask outside the house and in public until further notice. Public transport will be closed. All businesses must be closed after 5 p.m.," UNO Mir Alif Reza said.

"Motorcycles cannot carry more than one passenger and easybikes cannot carry more than two passengers. All kinds of public gatherings, meetings and processions have been banned. People cannot eat in a hotel or restaurant, tea shops cannot place benches, carrom boards or switch on the television set. People cannot come out of the house after 6 p.m. without a valid reason," he added.

Sharsha Upazila Health Officer Dr Yusuf Ali said coronavirus tests are now being conducted at the upazila health complex. A machine has been installed at the hospital for coronavirus test on May 18 considering the port-centric passengers. Rapid antigen testing is now being done here. Even then, it is not possible to bring the common man under the test on a large scale due to reluctance. Only those who come voluntarily for the test are being tested. However, this number is not less.

According to immigration sources, 5,230 passport holders returned to Bangladesh from India from April 26 to June 15 (2 pm). Thirteen people have returned from India with Corona positive certificate. Of the returning Bangladeshis, 46 were infected with the virus. Six of them had the Delta (Indian) variant. Delta variants have also been found in the bodies of people who have never been to India.
