Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam's tenure extended by two years

Dhaka, December 8: Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam's contract has been extended for another two years. On Tuesday (December 6), the Ministry of Public Administration extended the contract. Khandaker Anwarul Islam's one-year contract as cabinet secretary was due to expire on December 15.

The new appointment will be effective from December 16 or the date of joining. The terms of the appointment will be determined by the approved contract, the order said.

Khandker Anwarul Islam was appointed cabinet secretary on October 13 last year while serving as senior secretary of the bridge department. He joined on 28 October. Khandaker Anwar is an officer of the administration cadre of the 1982 BCS special batch.

Khandaker Anwarul was scheduled to go on retirement leave (PRL) on December 15 last year. But on December 9, he was re-appointed cabinet secretary on a one-year contract.

Anwarul Islam holds BSc (Hons) and MSS (Masters) degrees from the Department of Social Welfare, Dhaka University. His ancestral home is in Tangail. His wife, Kamrun Nahar, recently retired as information secretary. He is the father of two sons.
