CEC will soon sit in dialogue with BNP, other political parties
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, May 21: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal has hinted to sit in dialogue with BNP and other political parties very soon.
He said the Election Commission will soon sit in dialogue with the political parties, including the BNP.
He said this while speaking to reporters after inaugurating the voter list update programme at Savar Upazila auditorium on Friday (May 20) morning.
The CEC added, "We are working to increase the capacity of electronic voting machines (EVMs). I am thinking about how much capacity it needs, what else can be done. We will work to increase capacity. "
Secretary of the Election Commission Humayun Kabir Khandaker said that three types of information are being taken for the preparation of the voter list.
"The voter list will be prepared on March 2, 2023. The next national election will be held with this voter list. So this voter list is very important. Not only this, we have instructed to include transgender people and mothers and sisters of the red light areas in this list. We have also given training on how to bring it."
Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Shahidul Islam, Superintendent of Police Maruf Hossain Sardar, District Senior Election Officer Monir Hossain, Savar Upazila Chairman Manjurul Alam Rajib, Savar Mayor Abdul Gani, Savar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mazharul Islam and others were present on the occasion.
