Chief Justice, wife test positive for Covid-19, admitted to BSMMU

Dhaka, January 20: Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddiqui and his wife have contracted coronavirus. They were admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital on Wednesday night, according to Supreme Court sources on Thursday (January 20).

The Chief Justice is currently undergoing treatment in the VIP cabin of the hospital. Earlier on Tuesday, his wife Dalia Firoz was admitted to the same hospital.

It is learned that both of them are healthy. On December 30 last year, Hasan Foez Siddiqui was appointed as the 23rd Chief Justice of the country. Then on 31st December he took oath before President Md. Abdul Hamid.

Earlier, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed paid a courtesy call on the country's 23rd Chief Justice Hasan Fayez Siddiqui. The meeting was held on Wednesday (January 19). At this time the Chief Justice was greeted warmly.

AIG (Media and PR) of the police headquarters Md Kamruzzaman said this on Thursday (January 20). He said, "Besides exchanging greetings with the guardians of the country's judiciary, the police chief also talked about various issues."

According to another report, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder has contracted coronavirus. At noon on Wednesday (January 19), his test report came back positive. However, he is physically healthy. The minister is now at home.

On Thursday (January 20), sources in the Food Minister's Office said that Sadhan Chandra Majumder gave samples for coronavirus test on Tuesday due to mild cold. His sample test report came positive on Wednesday. The second session of the second day of the Deputy Commissioners (DC) Conference was held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Wednesday (January 19) with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Food. Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder was also present at the session.
