Dhaka, August 24: Yao Wen, the Chinese ambassador appointed in Dhaka, said that China will never interfere in any internal affairs of Bangladesh, referring to the upcoming 12th National Parliament elections as 'internal affairs of Bangladesh'.

He said that China opposes interference in the internal affairs of any country. Election of Bangladesh is their internal matter. This is Bangladesh's own decision.

He said these things to reporters after a meeting with State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury at the Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon. Asked whether there was any discussion about the upcoming national elections in Bangladesh, the Chinese ambassador said, "I have already emphasized that we are still adamant that China will never interfere in the internal affairs of any country. Elections in Bangladesh are their own affairs."

Regarding the meeting, he said, "We talked about the development of Mongla port. We talked about how to use this port and Padma Bridge. We have good opportunities for the development of the western part of Bangladesh. In that case, China wants to work together with Bangladesh. I am here to give a message about our future preparations."

When asked what kind of assistance China wants to provide for the development of Mongla port, the ambassador said, China will help Bangladesh to internationalize. We are the world's leading manufacturer of electric vehicles. So why don't we set up electric and battery plant at Mongla port?

He said that China can help Bangladesh in ICT, solar power and agricultural processing.

Yao Wen said, Bangladesh produces a lot of fruits. China can help in setting up processing industry in Bangladesh. So we see a lot of potential around Mongla port. What was discussed with the Minister of State.
