Dhaka, July 7: Chinese companies are working to produce coronavirus vaccines in Bangladesh. Hualong Yan, China's deputy ambassador to Dhaka, made the announcement on his Facebook page on Tuesday (July 6).

"Chinese vaccine R&D companies are working with Bangladeshi partners for future vaccine co-producing in Bangladesh," his post read.

"China so far has provided vaccines to nearly 100 countries, and will provide the first batch of 10 million doses of vaccines to COVAX," he added.

"Chinese vaccines are the first batch of vaccines obtained by many developing countries. China has carried out joint research and development and cooperative production with many developing countries, and supported relevant companies to cooperate with foreign parties in conducting the phase III clinical trials.

"Chinese vaccines, of which the safety and effectiveness widely recognized, have gained a good reputation in the international community," Yan said.

In the meantime, Chinese-made Sinopharm vaccines are being administered in the country. So far, a total of 80,985 people have been given the dose. Of these, 78,748 people have been vaccinated with the first dose, while 2,237 people have received the second dose.

On June 19, 1.1 million doses of Sinopharm donated by China began to be administered across the country, including the capital. Earlier, a number of people were given the vaccine experimentally.
