Chittagong: Fire breaks out beside railway tracks, doused after 2 hours

Dhaka, April 30: Two hours after a fire broke out in a tire godown near the railway line in Chittagong city's Dewanhat area, it was brought under control. This fire occurred on Saturday (12:45 pm). Eight units of fire service came forward to control the fire.

Due to the fire, no train could enter or leave the Chittagong station temporarily.

Chittagong Railway Station Master Zafar Alam said that the Sonar Bangla train coming from Dhaka could not enter the station due to the fire. Besides, Vijay and Mahanagar Express coming from Marshall Yard were also stranded.

Abdul Halim, Deputy Director of Chittagong Fire Service, said that fire service has brought under control the fire in a tire godown near the railway line in Dewanhat area of Chittagong city. A total of 12 units of the fire service extinguished the fire after about two hours. As the fire has been brought under control, train movement has also been normalized.

Abdul Halim, Deputy Director of Chittagong Fire Service, said that there was a fire in the godown of old tires. The fire was brought under control by 3:30 in the afternoon. The intensity of the fire produced a lot of smoke. Initial damage is not known. The cause of the fire and the damage will be known subject to investigation.

Meanwhile, train movement with Chittagong has been normalized as the fire has come under control.

Chittagong Railway Station Master Zafar Alam said that due to the fire, the Sonar Bangla train from Dhaka to Chittagong was stuck. After extinguishing the fire, the train reached Chittagong station. Besides, the Vijay train from Marshall Yard also reached the station. All in all, train movement has been normal.
