Climate activities are not being implemented due to lack of financial and political will: Sheikh Hasina

Dhaka, November 2: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that global climate action is not being implemented due to lack of money and strong political will. She made the remarks at a meeting titled "Action and Solidarity - Critical Decade" in Glasgow, Scotland on Monday (November 1) local time. The meeting was hosted by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson and the Prime Minister of Italy Mario Draghi.

The Prime Minister said that for adaptation and mitigation, the developed countries must fulfill their commitment of USD 100 billion annually in climate finance, including their 50:50 allocation. She noted that the developed countries need the support and assistance of the affected countries.

The Prime Minister told world leaders that Bangladesh has planted 3 crore saplings this year and is going to launch a 'Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan' in the name of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The World Climate Conference (COP-26) kicked off on Sunday (October 31) in Glasgow, Scotland. The conference will continue till November 12. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has joined the world leaders in this.
