Dhaka, January 29: Mild cold wave is going on in Kurigram. Today's minimum temperature in the district has been recorded at 9 degrees Celsius. The Rajarhat Meteorological Office said two more cold spells are expected in February.

Due to thick fog and cold wind, public life in Kurigram has been disrupted. Although the sun was seen a little at a time during the day, it was not seen most of the time. Vehicles are running with headlights on even during the day. In Kankan, people work and eat in the cold.

The low-income and marginalized people, including the people of more than five hundred chars and island chars in the district, have been suffering due to the drop in temperature. People are not getting out of the house without need. The number of people in the streets and markets has decreased.

Many people are trying to prevent winter by burning straw. The misery of the children and the elderly of the impoverished families has increased due to the lack of warm clothes in the cold.

On the other hand, the number of cold patients in the district's hospitals has increased due to the continuous winter. Children in particular are suffering from various diseases including diarrhea, pneumonia and shortness of breath. Aynal Mia, a horse driver from Jatrapur area, said, “The horses are not able to run in the extreme cold. I also feel very cold. But what do I do? If you don't transport the goods, you have to eat. '

Jabbar Ali, a van driver from Kurigram, said, "It has been getting very cold for the last few days. I am wearing winter clothes. Still, when you drive a van, the cold air pierces the cloth. It is very difficult.

"I am a poor man," said Dulal Mia, a chalk seller in the Bhogdanga area. If you can't sell chalk one day, you won't get rice. Can't even afford winter clothes. So I went out to sell chalk in light clothes. It feels very cold. '
