Cold wave in Rangpur, six other regions; temperature drops in Dhaka

Dhaka, January 16: A mild cold wave is prevailing over Rangpur division including Srimangal, Pabna, Bogra, Badalgachhi, Dinajpur and Chuadanga areas and it may continue. Today, the lowest temperature in the country has been recorded at Srimangal at 7.9 degrees Celsius. Besides, the capital Dhaka is also experiencing a drop in temperature.

The Meteorological Department said this on Saturday (January 16) morning. The forecast for the next 24 hours from 9 a.m. said the weather across the country could remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies. Moderate to heavy fog may fall in the river basins of the country from midnight to morning and light to moderate fog may fall elsewhere in the country.

Temperatures may remain almost unchanged tonight and day across the country. The weather may change slightly in the next three days.

The extension of the subcontinental high pressure zone is located in West Bengal and adjoining areas. The normal light pressure of the season is located in the South Bay.

Meanwhile, the temperature in Dhaka has dropped in the last few days. The minimum temperature recorded in Dhaka on Friday (January 15) was 12.3 degrees Celsius. However, the lowest temperature recorded on Saturday was 13.6 degrees Celsius. It has been quite cold in Dhaka for a few days due to low temperature.

In Dhaka today, north-west / north frost winds can blow at a speed of 8 to 12 kmph. The Meteorological Department said in a forecast for Dhaka and surrounding areas on Saturday (January 16) from 7 am to 1 pm.

The forecast also said that the weather in Dhaka and adjoining areas may be temporarily partly cloudy but the weather may remain dry. Daytime temperatures may remain almost unchanged.
