Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 16 November 2023: The US Ambassador to Bangladesh, Peter Haas, has expressed concern over the politically violent statements made against the officials of the US Embassy in Dhaka. He expressed this concern after a meeting with Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader at the Secretariat on Wednesday at 11 am.

Later, the ambassador told reporters, "I am deeply concerned about the politically violent statements made against US Embassy officials recently."

Peter Haas said, "The message we have given to all political parties is the same here. That is, the United States will be neutral in the upcoming elections. We are not on the side of any political party. We want a peaceful, free and fair election. We want to reduce violence for a fair election environment. Also, we call on all political parties to find opportunities for dialogue without any preconditions," he said.

The ambassador said, "Also, I have highlighted the issue of violence and political speech by the officials of the US Embassy in Dhaka. Which was also said by our Chief Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel a few days ago. I have also said how worrying this statement is for the security of us and our citizens."
