Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Oct 11: The shock of the corona pandemic and the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine have slowed down the development of the country. Not only Bangladesh, but people all over the world are suffering from this.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said these while inaugurating the Madhumati Bridge built on the Madhumati River and the brave freedom fighter AKM Nasim Osman III Shitalakshya Bridge built on the Shitalakshya River through a video conference from her office on Monday.

She said, "We don't want war. We want peace and human development. The money spent on this war and arms race should be spent on children around the world. Let it be spent on their treatment, education, and better life. I make that call to the people of the world today."

The Prime Minister said, "I am very happy today that we have completed the construction of these two bridges. For this, my sincere thanks to our two friendly countries, Saudi Arabia and Japan. We are able to improve Bangladesh only with their cooperation. The head of government also highlighted that more development projects are going on in Bangladesh and that friendly countries are coming forward."

She also said that we are trying to bring more investment from Saudi Arabia to the country. Taking measures to bring investment. Japan has done many things for us. Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina also highlighted the construction of the Padma Bridge with her own funding.

The Prime Minister said that these two bridges will make a very important contribution to the development of Bangladesh. This will accelerate the socio-economic development of the people of the country.

She said, "That is why I think the communication system and at the same time the system of employment of people, expansion of business and trade, and increase of international communication are necessary. Especially today we are in such a place in South Asia that we will have a connection with other countries like Nepal, Bhutan, and India, which will increase trade and commerce."

"We have opened our Mongla and Chittagong ports for regional cooperation and communication. We have also opened our international airports to friendly countries," Sheikh Hasina said.

"We think that these neglected areas of ours will improve more as a result of this communication," she added.
