Coronavirus: 48 die within a day as infection rate drops to 7.3 percent across Bangladesh

Dhaka, September 11: The Covid-19 daily infection rate across Bangladesh dropped to 7.3 percent as 48 people succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours- between Friday and Saturday morning, According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During this time, 1,327 people tested positive for coronavirus.

The national coronavirus death toll and caseload have increased to 26,880 and 15,28,542 respectively.

Among the deceased were 26 women and 22 men. A total of 17,336 men and 9,544 women have died, so far, across Bangladesh.

With 22 fatalities, Dhaka division recorded the highest single-day deaths, followed by Chittagong with 12, Rajshahi and Rangpur with four each, Khulna and Sylhet with two each and Barisal and Mymensigh with one each.

The DGHS said, 18,683 samples were collected and 18,869 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. A total of 92,21,659 samples have been tested in the country till date, for an overall infection rate of 16.58 percent.

Meanwhile, 3,168 patients have recovered from the disease in between Friday and Saturday morning. The recovery toll has reached 14,75,235.
