Coronavirus claims 51 lives within 24 hours, 1,901 test positive across Bangladesh

Dhaka, September 15: The deadly coronavirus disease has claimed another 51 lives in between Tuesday and Wednesday morning, across Bangladesh, a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) stated. With it, the death toll rose to 27,058.

During this time, 1,901 people tested positive for the disease, taking the caseload to 15,36,341.

In the last 24 hours, 28,544 samples were collected and 25,615 samples were tested in Bangladesh. The daily infection rate was 6.64 percent.

A total of 93,32,460 samples have been tested so far in the country, with an overall infection rate of 16.46 percent.

The DGHS release stated that 3,873 people recovered from the deadly disease in the last 24 hours. So far, 14,90,541 people have recovered from Covid-19 in Bangladesh.

Among the 51 deceased were 32 men and 19 women.

Dhaka division recorded the highest number of deaths with 20 fatalities, followed by Chittagong with 11, Sylhet and Khulna with five each, Rajshahi with four, and Barisal and Mymensingh with three each.
