Coronavirus: Country records lowest single-day death toll in 99 days as 35 die, 24-hour mortality rate drops to 6.69 percent

Dhaka, September 14: Thirty-five people have died in between Monday and Tuesday morning, as Bangladesh recorded the lowest single-day coronavirus death toll in 99 days. So far, 27,007 people have succumbed to the virus in the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During this time, 2,074 people tested Covid-19 positive, as the caseload surged to 15,34,440.

Among the deceased were 21 men and 14 women. Thirty-three of them died at government hospitals and two at private facilities.

The DGHS release stated that 32,212 samples were collected and 31,724 samples were tested in 806 government and private laboratories. The country has so far tested 94,03,845 samples.

The daily infection rate was 6.69 percent, while the overall detection date stands at 16.54 percent.

The release also said 3,735 people recovered in the last 24 hours in Bangladesh, taking the total recoveries to 14,86,668. The recovery rate stands at 96.89 percent.

Dhaka division recorded 15 deaths, followed by Chittagong with eight, Rajhashi and Khulna with four each and Barisal and Sylhet with two each.
