Coronavirus kills 36 people in a day, death toll touches 27,313

Dhaka, September 22: The coronavirus death toll in Bangladesh has touched 27,313 after another 36 people succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours- between Tuesday and Wednesday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The daily infection rate was 4.79 percent.

Among the 36 deceased were 19 women and 17 men. One person died at home, five at private facilities and 30 at government hospitals.

The fatality rate in the last 24 hours was 1.77 percent.

During this time, 1,376 people tested positive for the virus. A total of 15,47,196 people have been infected by the coronavirus in the country.

Meanwhile, 28,986 samples were collected and 28,736 samples were tested in 810 government and private laboratories across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours. A total of 95,27,150 samples have been tested so far in the country.

The overall infection rate stands at 16.24 percent.

The DGHS said 1,427 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours. The total recoveries stand at 15,06,136 and the recovery rate at 97.35 percent.

Dhaka division recorded 18 deaths, Chittagong 10, two each in Rajshahi, Khulna and Sylhet divisions and one each in Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions.
