Coronavirus: Over 8,000 general beds, 459 ICU beds vacant across the country

Dhaka, April 30: Although the country is in turmoil, 8,335 corona general beds and 459 ICU beds are vacant in eight divisional hospitals, Md. Maidul Islam, senior information officer at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said in a statement on Thursday (April 29).

He said that according to the information received from the hospitals, there are currently 12,365 corona dedicated beds and 1,084 ICU beds in eight divisions of the country. Of these, a total of 8,794 beds are now vacant as a large number of patients have left the hospital after recovering.

Of these, 3,413 out of a total of 5,644 general beds in Dhaka metropolitan hospitals are vacant. Out of 769 ICUs, 328 are vacant. There are 13 government and 13 private hospitals.

Out of 13 government hospitals in Dhaka metropolis, Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital has 245 vacancies out of 705 beds, out of 20 ICU beds, no beds are vacant now.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital has 115 vacancies out of total 230 general beds and four out of 20 ICU beds.

Of the 300 general beds at Kurmitola General Hospital, 46 are vacant and none of the 10 ICU beds are vacant.

Of the 360 ​​general beds at Mugda General Hospital, 230 are currently vacant and only one of the 19 ICU beds is vacant.

Kuwait Friendship Hospital has 107 vacancies out of a total of 169 general beds and four vacancies out of 26 ICU beds.

Sheikh Russell Gastroliver Hospital has 95 vacancies out of a total of 174 general beds and five vacancies out of a total of 16 ICU beds.

Meanwhile, Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital has 183 vacancies out of 288 general beds and one vacancy out of 10 ICU beds.

Of the 94 general beds in government hospitals, 74 are vacant and one of the six ICU beds is vacant.

Rajarbagh Police Hospital has 364 vacancies out of 485 general beds and 10 vacancies out of 15 ICU beds.

Out of 10 ordinary beds in the Infectious Diseases Hospital, eight are vacant.
