Country observes National Day of Mourning

Dhaka, August 16: The National Day of Mourning and 46th Martyrdom Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Architect of Independence, Commander-in-Chief of the War of Liberation, was celebrated on Sunday all over the country, including the capital Dhaka. The Bengali nation, irrespective of caste, creed and creed, observes this day with deep reverence. However, this time due to the global epidemic of coronavirus (Covid-19), social distance was ensured and the National Mourning Day was observed following the hygiene rules.

There was a strong demand among the people who came to pay their respects to Bangabandhu on the day of mourning to form a commission of inquiry to bring the conspirators and conspirators behind the murder of Bangabandhu and his family to justice.

There was mourning in various programs across the country.

On the morning of 15 August 1975, some members of the army killed Bangabandhu and his family at his residence in Dhanmondi. The assassins not only killed Bangabandhu, but also Bangabandhu's wife Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, Bangabandhu's children Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and children Sheikh Russell and daughter-in-law Sultana Kamal and Rosi Jamal. At that time Bangabandhu's two daughters Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana survived as they were abroad.

In the morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban and paid deep homage to his memory. At this time a sad tune was played on the bugle. A contingent of the Armed Forces provided the Guard of Honor at the ceremony. Later the speaker said. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu.

The Prime Minister then proceeded to Banani graveyard from Dhanmondi Road No. 32. There she paid deep homage to the memory of his family members by laying wreaths at their graves.

Shortly after the Prime Minister left the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, senior leaders of the party led by General Secretary of the Awami League Obaidul Quader paid deep homage to the Father of the Nation by laying wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu.

We are the children of freedom fighters, different ministries, various parties including state-owned banks, socio-cultural organizations and institutions as well as thousands of people from all walks of life. Various ministries also paid homage to the Father of the Nation with flowers on the occasion of Mourning Day.

Meanwhile, the best Bengali of a thousand years, the great architect of independent Bangladesh, the 46th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation and National Mourning Day have been paid homage at Bangabandhu's tomb in Tungipara by various organizations including the Prime Minister and Awami League.

Apart from the capital, Bangladesh's diplomatic missions across the country and abroad observed a day of mourning through various programs including paying floral tributes to the portrait of Bangabandhu.
