Dhaka, April 12: Bangladesh will receive 68 million vaccines in May alone to tackle the Corona crisis from Covax, an alliance formed with the promise of fair vaccinations around the world. This information was given by the World Bank. The matter was reported in a report titled 'Bangladesh Update' published on Monday (April 12).

At the same time, Bangladesh's GDP (gross domestic product) growth in the current financial year could be from 2.6 percent to 5.6 percent. However, this growth will only be possible if ongoing vaccination activities continue, strict lockdowns are implemented and the world economy turns around quickly.

A virtual press conference was organized on the occasion of the release of the report. World Bank Country Director Mercy Myang Tembon spoke on the occasion. The report was presented by Bernard Haven, a senior economist at the company.

Mercy Tembon said there is global uncertainty about vaccination. However, Bangladesh will soon get vaccinated from Covax. The government of Bangladesh has no problem with money to buy vaccines. The World Bank is also going to give USD 50 crore to buy vaccines for three percent of the country's people. There is also the World Bank with the global enterprise Covax.

The report further said that Bangladesh's economy is being driven by exports, remittance inflows and ongoing vaccination programs. Despite the uncertainty created by Covid-19, the pace of Bangladesh's economy is good.

Bernard Haven said Corona has caused a global recession. Many families are living inhumane lives. Protecting families has become urgent. At the same time structural reform is urgent. So that we can overcome the ongoing crisis quickly.
