Covid-19: 166 more deaths, 6,364 new cases in 24 hours

Dhaka, July 23: Another 166 people have succumbed to the coronavirus across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, between Thursday and Friday, taking the total deaths to 18,851.

During the same time, 6,364 fresh cases were reported, taking the total number of infections to 11,46,564.

Among the divisions, Dhaka reported 60 deaths, the highest, followed by Khulna and Chittagong with 33 each. Rangpur division accounted for 12 deaths, Barisal 10, Sylhet eight, Rajshahi seven, and Mymensingh three deaths.

As many as 19,705 samples were collected and 20,493 samples were tested across 639 labs in the country. The daily positivity rate was 31.05 percent.

The country has so far tested 73,96,867 samples, for an overall positivity rate of 15.5 percent.

Meanwhile, another 9,006 patients recovered from the infectious disease across the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 9,78,616.

The mortality rate stands at 1.64 percent.
