Covid-19: 20 more die within a day, 991 patients identified

Dhaka, January 5: In the last one day, 20 more people have died due to coronavirus infection in the country and 991 new patients have been identified, according to an official press release.

It said the total number of people infected with coronavirus in the country has increased to 5,17,920. The total number of deaths from coronavirus in the country has risen to 7,670.

According to the Department of Health, another 944 patients undergoing treatment at home and in the hospital have recovered in the last one day. So far, the total number of recoveries has increased to 4,62,459.

According to the Department of Health, in the last 24 hours, 14,462 samples have been tested in 114 RT-PCR labs, 26 gene-expert labs and 40 rapid antigen labs across the country, meaning a total of 180 labs. So far, 32,86,885 samples have been tested.

Considering the sample test in 24 hours, the detection rate is 6.85 percent, so far the total detection rate is 15.76 percent. The recovery rate is 89.29 percent and the death rate is 1.48 percent.

Among the dead, 14 were residents of Dhaka division, 2 each of Chittagong and Mymensingh divisions and 1 each of Khulna and Sylhet divisions.

Of the 7,670 people who have died in the country, 5,831 are men and 1,839 are women.
