Covid-19: 239 die in a day, 15,261 identified

Dhaka, July 29: Another 239 people have succumbed to the deadly coronavirus in the last 24 hours, between Wednesday and Thursday, taking the death toll to 20,255.

During the same time 15,271 new people tested positive for the coronavirus, taking the caseload to 12,26,253.

Of the 239 deceased were 123 men and 116 women.

One among the deceased was aged between 91 and 100 years, 14 between 81 and 90 years, 43 between  71 and 80 years, 65 between 61 and 70 years, 57 between 51 and 60 years, 26 between 41 and 50 years, 15 between 31 and 40 years, 14 between 21 and 30 years, three between 11 and 20 years and one  person below 10 years.  

Among the eight divisions, Dhaka reported 76 deaths, Chittagong 57, Khulna 45, Barisal 14, Sylhet 14, Rajshahi 13, Rangpur 10, and Mymensingh nine deaths.

Meanwhile, 14,336 people recovered from Covid-19 within the 24, taking the total number of recoveries to 10,50,220.

The overall mortality rate stands at 1.65 percent.

In the last 24 hours, 55,982 samples were collected and 52,282 samples were tested. The daily positivity rate was 29.21 percent, while the overall rate stands at 16 percent.

A total of 76,64,870 samples have been tested so far across Bangladesh.
