Covid-19: 30 die, 1,272 new cases registered across Bangladesh in 24 hours

Dhaka, May 18: In the last 24 hours, 30 more people have died with coronavirus across Bangladesh. The death toll from the virus rose to 12,211.

At that time, 1,272 new cases were registered, taking the national toll to 7,82,129.

The information was given in a regular press release on Tuesday (May 18) sent by the Department of Health.

It said 1,115 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 7,24,209 people have recovered from the deadly respiratory disease.

Meanwhile, 17,675 samples were collected in 24 hours and 16,855 samples were tested. The detection rate was 7.55 percent compared to the sample test. A total of 57,34,918 samples have been tested in the country so far. Compared to the total test, the detection rate is 13.64 percent.

Of the 30 people who died in the last 24 hours, 15 were from Dhaka division. Eight were from Chittagong, two each from Rajshahi, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions and one was from Rangpur division.

Of those killed in the last 24 hours, 14 were men and 16 were women. All but two of them died at the hospital.

Of the 12,211 deaths so far, 8,834 were males and 3,377 were females.
