Covid-19: 48 die in Khulna, 22 in Barisal in the last 24 hours

Dhaka, July 12: In the last 24 hours, 48 people in Khulna division and 22 people in Barisal division succumbed to the deadly coronavirus.

During the same time, 1,642 people in Khulna and 575 people in Barisal tested positive for the virus. The positivity rate was 64.36 percent.

Rasheda Sultana, director of the Khulna Divisional Health Department, said at noon on Monday (July 12) that 48 people had died in the Khulna Division in the last 24 hours. Of these, 13 died in Khulna district, 12 in Jessore, nine in Kushtia, six in Jhenaidah, three in Chuadanga, two in Bagerhat and one each in Satkhira, Narail and Magura districts.

On the other hand, Dr. Basudeb Kumar Das, Director, Barisal Divisional Health Department, said that according to the district-wise coronavirus infection data, 216 cases were reported from Barisal district, the highest in the division. So far 9,612 people have been identified as coronavirus positive in the district. Although no one died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the district, a total of 138 people have succumbed to the virus so far, Meanwhile, 6,868 patients have recovered in the district so far.

On Sunday, 13 people had died of coronavirus in the division, while 710 people had tested positive for th disease. The infection rate was 62.23 percent in the district.
