Covid-19: Another daily death record set as country registers 264 fatalities in 24 hours

Dhaka, August 5: Bangladesh has set another record in Covid-19 daily deaths with 264 fatalities in the 24 hours, from Wednesday to Thursday morning. The death toll in the country rose to 21,902.

The previous high of 258 deaths was set on July 27.

Dhaka division with 87 deaths, recorded the highest fatalities, followed by Chittagong with 56 counts. Khulna reported 35 deaths, Sylhet 23, Rajshahi 19, Rangpur 18, Barisal 16, and Mymensingh 10 deaths.

The mortality rate stands at 1.66 percent.

During the last 24 hours, another 12,744 people tested positive for the virus. The caseload surged to 13,22,654.

Meanwhile, 46,995 samples were tested across the bangladesh, with a positivity rate of 27.12 percent.

Another 15,786 patients also recovered from the Covid-19 across the country, taking the total number of recoveries to 11,56,943.
