COVID-19: Bangladesh registers 69 new deaths

Dhaka, May 2, 2021: The list of deaths due to coronavirus (Covid-19) in the country is getting longer and longer.

In the last 24 hours, the virus has claimed the lives of 69 more people. With this, the number of deaths due to corona in the country increased to 11 thousand 579 people. At the same time, another 1,359 people have been identified as infected patients. As a result, the total number of identified patients in the country has increased to seven lakh 71 thousand 943.

On Sunday (May 2), Additional Director General (Administration) of the Department of Health, Prof. A press release signed by Nasima Sultana said 2,656 people have been exempted from tax in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 6 lakh 8 thousand 328 people have recovered.

In 24 hours, 14,042 samples of 14,042 people were collected and tested. The detection rate is 9.60 percent as compared to the sample test. So far, a total of 54 lakh 96 thousand 989 samples have been tested in the country. Compared to the total test, the detection rate is 13.6 percent.

Of the 69 people killed, 37 died in Dhaka division, 14 in Chittagong, 1 in Rajshahi, 5 in Khulna, 6 in Barisal, 1 in Sylhet, 2 in Rangpur and 1 in Mymensingh.

Of the 69 dead, 44 were men and 25 were women. Two of them died at home. The rest died at the hospital. Of the 11,589 people who have died from the virus so far, 8,434 are males and 3,145 are females.

The age-based analysis showed that 44 of those who died in the last 24 hours were over 60 years old. There are also 11 to 51 to 60 year olds, 8 to 41 to 50 year olds, 3 to 31 to 40 year olds and 2 to 21 to 30 year olds, 1 to 11 to 20 year olds and 1 to 10 year olds.
