Dhaka: Due to the ongoing Corona situation, this year's Amar Ekushey Book Fair may be delayed by two weeks.

Sources said that the fair may start on February 15 instead of February 1.

Poet Muhammad Nurul Huda, director general of Bangla Academy, the organizer of the fair, said on Sunday, "Officially, I have not received the letter yet. I have heard that it has been decided to start the fair from 15th February two weeks back. Everyone will be informed as soon as the letter is received."

Although the book fair started on February 1 every year, it started on March 16 last year. On the same day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the virtual book fair from Ganobhaban at 3 pm. After its inauguration, the fair is open to all.

The fair was supposed to run till April 14. But the book fair ended two days before the scheduled time due to Corona's outburst.

This year too, due to the Corona situation, it has been decided to start the book fair two weeks after the scheduled time. The Bangla Academy will confirm the matter as soon as it receives the letter sent by the Ministry of Culture.
