Covid-19 Covid-19 claims 235 lives, 15,776 test positive in a day
Dhaka, August 3: Another 235 Covid-19 deaths and 15,776 fresh cases were recorded across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, between Monday and Tuesday. With it, the death toll and caseload surged to 21,397 and 12,96,093 respectively.
As usual, Dhaka division topped the daily death chart, accounting for 73 deaths. Chittagong recorded 65 fatalities, Khulna 32, Rajshahi 21, while 12 each in Mymensingh, Rangpur and Sylhet, and eight deaths in Barisal.
Of the 235 deceased- 140 men and 95 women- 219 died at different hospitals across Bangladesh, one was brought in dead, while 15 died at home. The mortality rate stands at 1.65 percent.
So far, 14,419 men and 6,978 women have succumbed to coronavirus across Bangladesh.
The country also collected 57,297 samples and tested 55,284 samples between Monday and Tuesday. The daily infection rate was 28.54 percent.
The infection rate against all tests stands at 16.41 percent. The country has tested 78,99,169 samples so far.
Meanwhile, 11,25,045 people have recovered so far in Bangladesh, after another 16,297 patients made recovery in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate stands at 86.80 percent.
