COVID-19 claims two more lives, detection rate at 7.18%

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Oct 20: Two people died of Covid-19 in 24 hours from Tuesday 8 am to Wednesday 8 am in Bangladesh. One of them was a woman and another a man. Both died in hospital. With this, the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has reached 29,410 since the outbreak of the pandemic.

During this time, 300 new cases were reported, taking the total number of Covid-19 cases to 20 lakh 33 thousand 419.

On Wednesday (October 19), a regular press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Corona said that 4,192 samples were collected and 4,176 samples were tested in 24 hours from Tuesday 8 am to Wednesday 8 am in 882 laboratories across the country. The detection rate against the test is 7.18 percent. The total detection rate since the beginning of the epidemic is 13.59 percent.

Meanwhile, 411 people have recovered from corona in 24 hours. With this, the total number of recoveries reached 19 lakh 75 thousand 817. The recovery rate is 97.17 percent.

On March 8, 2020, Bangladesh reported the first Covid-19 case. After 10 days on March 18, the first corona-related death was reported by the DGHS.
