Covid-19 kills 24 in a day, death toll touches 7,650

Dhaka, January 4: In the last one day, 24 more people have died due to coronavirus infection in the country while 910 new patients have been identified. The latest information on the coronavirus situation in the country was given by the Department of Health by sending a notification to the media on Monday afternoon.

It said the total number of people infected with coronavirus in the country has increased to 5,16,929 after 910 more people were identified within 24 hours between Sunday and Monday. The total number of deaths due to coronavirus in the country has risen to 7,650 with 24 deaths in the last one day.

According to the Department of Health, another 917 patients undergoing treatment at home and in the hospital have recovered in the last one day. So far, the total number of recoveries has increased to 4,61,515.

The first case of coronavirus was detected in Bangladesh on March 8; It crossed 5 lakh on December 20. Of these, 4,019 Covid-19 patients were identified on July 2, which is the highest in a single day.

On March 18, 10 days after the first patient was identified, the Department of Health confirmed the first Covid-19 death in the country. On December 29, it exceeded seven and a half thousand. Of these, 64 deaths were reported in a single day on June 30, the highest death toll in a single day.

The number of Covid-19 patients identified in the world has already crossed 8.51 crore, the number of deaths has exceeded 18.43 lakh.

According to the Department of Health, in the last 24 hours, 12,096 samples have been tested in 114 RT-PCR labs, 26 gene-expert labs and 40 rapid antigen labs across the country, meaning a total of 180 labs. So far 32,72,423 samples have been tested.

Considering the sample test in 24 hours, the detection rate is 7.52 percent, so far the total detection rate is 15.80 percent. The recovery rate was 89.28 percent and the death rate was 1.48 percent.
