Dhaka, January 30, 2022: From now on, 12-year-old children will also be vaccinated against coronavirus in Bangladesh.

At the same time 40 year olds will get Corona ticker booster dose. So far, it has been decided to give booster dose to people above 50 years of age.

Now it has been reduced to 40 years due to low vaccination rate.

This decision will be effective from today.

Health Minister Zahid Malek made the remarks at a press conference on corona vaccine and corona condition at Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) auditorium on Sunday (January 30th).

"We have been giving booster doses for 50 years now," said Zahid Malek. But we are not getting much response. So far very few people have taken the booster dose. So from now on you will get booster dose even in 40 years. We now have nine crore vaccines in our hands.

"From now on, we will also vaccinate 12-year-olds," he said. Earlier this age limit was only for school children, now everyone except students will be vaccinated. Madrasa students of 12 years will also get vaccinated now.

Asked about the method of vaccination of children, Zahid Malek said that 12-year-olds will be vaccinated in the same way as the current vaccination program.

"You will get the vaccine as soon as you go to the center. If anyone can show documents, we will vaccinate. We will not return any of them even if we cannot show them," Malek said.

Asked if there is any such plan in Bangladesh, the minister said, "We have talked with the World Health Organization about raising the age limit for vaccines to five years." They said they would review and let us know. The age limit for vaccines will be lowered to five years as soon as they receive the message.

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, among others, was present at the event. Lokman Hossain Mia, Director General of the Department of Health. ABM Khurshid Alam, Additional Director General Prof. Mirzadi Sebrina Flora, director of the vaccination program. Shamsul Haque and many more.
