Covid: 52 deaths, over 7,000 fresh cases reported within 24 hours

Dhaka, April 5: For the second day in a row, more than 7,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus in 24 hours. The Department of Health said on Monday that 7,075 new patients had been identified in the country in the past one day, with another 52 dying.

Earlier in the day, 7,087 people were infected with coronavirus in the country, a record number of patients identified in 24 hours.

The number of identified patients in the country so far stood at 6,44,439. A total of 9,317 of them have died.

According to the Department of Health, another 2,932 patients have been cured in the last one day. So far, the total number of recovered patients has increased to 5,55,414.

One week after the first case of coronavirus was detected in Bangladesh on March 8 last year, more than 5,000 new cases were reported in a single day last week. The total number of identified patients in the country on March 29 exceeded 600,000.

The number of patients identified daily exceeded 6,000 last Thursday in three days. On Saturday, the daily identified patient was below 6,000, but on Sunday it reached a new record.

The government confirmed the first death from coronavirus in the country on March 18 last year, 10 days after the first patient was identified. On March 31, 2021, it exceeded 9,000. On June 30 last year, 64 deaths were reported in a single day, the highest number in a single day.
