Crime against humanity: Judgment of 7 accused of Bagerhat on Thursday

Dhaka, Nov 28: The International Crimes Tribunal will announce the judgment of the case against seven people including Khan Akram of Bagerhat on charges of crimes against humanity on Thursday (November 30).

A three-judge tribunal including the chairman of the International Crimes Tribunal, Justice Md. Shahinur Islam, will announce the verdict in this case.

The tribunal's registrar Meshbah Uddin Ahmed confirmed the information today (Tuesday, November 28).

Among the seven accused in this case, Khan Akram Hossain (60), Sheikh Mohammad Ukil Uddin (62) and Md. Maqbul Molla (79) are in jail, while remaining four — Khan Ashraf Ali (65), Rustam Ali Molla (70), Sheikh Idris Ali (61) and Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Babul (64) — are absconding.

Prosecutor Rana Das Gupta and Prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chaman appeared for the state in the case.

Seven charges were brought against the accused. On May 31, 2017, the charges brought against the accused were taken into consideration. Later the trial begins with the framing of charges. After a lengthy trial, the case is pending for judgment.

Prosecutor Rezia Sultana said, "We have been able to prove beyond doubt all the charges brought against the accused, we hope they will receive the maximum sentence."
