Dhaka, October 18: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that those involved in the house fire and looting at Pirganj in Rangpur have been identified immediately. He said 45 people have already been arrested. The minister also said that houses will be constructed for the victims soon. He told reporters at his office in the Secretariat on Monday (October 18) at noon.

"Unexpected incident took place in Pirganj of Rangpur (Sunday night). The incident started because of a post on Facebook about Kabash Sharif, the son of a teenager. Whether intentionally or reluctantly or purposefully, status is given. Everyone has suffered in such incidents. Our police administration suspected the incident and raided the place where the boy was staying, but the boy was not found. Police were deployed to protect the village. Those who set fire are the evildoers. The miscreants left the area and went to a village in Raghunathpur Union of Pirganj Police Station and set fire to several houses. According to the information I have received, 25 houses have been set on fire," he said.

He said the miscreants looted the houses, adding that more than 90 houses were looted and vandalized. These incidents took place before the police left and additional police, APBn, RAB, BGB went with the incident at night.

"We have taken all kinds of security measures. But this incident was accidentally caused by miscreants. There were no casualties. However, property has been lost, houses have been burnt. We think we identified these perpetrators immediately. With the help of locals, we have caught 45 people and are trying to catch a few more," he said.

"As you know, the Prime Minister has already instructed to take appropriate action for those who have been affected. The district administration immediately distributed cash and sari among them. Honorable Speaker, the MP there, has also taken the initiative. The Prime Minister has instructed them to build their houses, which will be given whatever is needed. We will build their house very soon," he added.
