Dhaka, October 25: Cyclone Sitrang has raged on the coast of Bangladesh. It hit at a maximum speed of 75 kilometers per hour. Due to this, it has rained all over the country. However, Barisal and Madaripur received record amount of rain. The range of the cyclone was 400 km. It is quite different from other cyclones. It started without clouds when it was low pressure.

Finally, Cyclone Sitrang turned into a low pressure over land in Bangladesh. It then moves further through central and northeastern Bangladesh and moves towards Assam, India, losing strength.

Meteorologist Ruhul Quddus said Sitrang hit our coast with a maximum speed of 75 km per hour. The maximum wind speed was 75 in Gopalganj and 74 in Chittagong, Chandpur, Cox's Bazar, Patuakhali. He said that 324 millimeters of rain fell in Barisal from Monday morning to Tuesday morning due to the cyclone.

This meteorologist said that there has never been so much rain in Barisal in history. Earlier on November 10, 2019, Barisal recorded the highest rainfall of 262 mm. On the other hand, Madaripur received 315 mm of rain. Meteorologist Quddus calls it a record. He said that earlier on June 12, 1995 Madaripur received the maximum rainfall of 243 mm.

Besides, due to Cyclone Sitrang, Dhaka received 255 mm of rain. But earlier there is a record of 340 mm of rain in Dhaka. In the cyclone forecast yesterday, the Meteorological Department said that the cyclone will cross the coast of Bangladesh from Monday midnight to Tuesday morning. But it actually hit Monday at 9pm. As quickly as the storm came, it left. As a result, the situation became normal from Tuesday morning.

Quddus said, "Wind speed of 75 km was recorded in Gopalganj at 2:30 last night. Earlier at 4 pm in Barisal, wind speed was 52 km. A cyclone with a range of 400 km. Can you match it exactly?"

He added, "Cyclone starts three days in advance with no clouds. So what do you say the cyclone has started to hit. When the center moves we say it is passing. Sometimes there is calm air in the center of the cyclone, sometimes there is good weather when the center is passing. The weather before and after the center is worse. If the entire cyclone is caught during the passage, the entire time must be kept within the signal."
