DCs to get Tk 50,000 and UNOs to get Tk 30,000 for New Year celebration

Dhaka, April 3: The government has allocated a total of Tk 1 crore 62 lakh 20 thousand at the rate of Tk 50,000 for each of 64 districts and Tk 30,000 for 434 upazilas to meet the expenses of Bengali New Year 1431 celebration.

All District Commissioners (DCs) and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) will take this money according to the prescribed rules. Recently, this allocation was given by the Ministry of Culture.

According to the letter of allocation, this amount has been allocated in favor of districts and upazilas (except District Sadar Upazila) from the money allocated to the 'Events/Festivals' sector of the Ministry of Culture in the fiscal year 2023-24.

It is stated in the allocation conditions that all financial regulations must be properly followed in the matter of spending the allocated money. If there is any irregularity in the expenditure of this money, the bill paying authority will be responsible, the unspent money must be returned by June 30 and the report on the execution of the program must be sent to the ministry.

According to the letter, the Chief Accounts and Finance Officer of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs at the rate of Tk 50,000 for each of the 64 districts and the rate of Tk 30,000 in favor of 434 upazilas for a total of Tk 1 crore 62 lakh 20 thousand for allocation among the districts and upazilas as the controller/district accounting officer. Upazila will authorize allotment in favor of Accounts Officer.

It further states that all District Administrators and Upazila Nirbahi Officers shall submit bills directly through expenditure bill vouchers as per financial regulations and withdraw from the office of Divisional Accounts Controller/District Accounts Officer/Upazila Accounts Officer and store the bill-vouchers in his office for further audit.
