Deep low pressure moving over land, rain increasing

Dhaka, August 2: A deep depression in the Bay of Bengal is crossing the land of Bangladesh. It crosses the coast from the Bay of Bengal near Khepupara in Patuakhali. Currently it is located in Khulna region. Rain is increasing across the country under the influence of deep depression. It can reduce the daytime temperature by up to 2 degrees Celsius. At the same time, local warning signal number 3 has been maintained in four seaports of the country.

It is raining in the coastal areas, accompanied by strong winds. A gusty wind has been blowing over Dhaka since Tuesday afternoon. During the 24 hours from Monday 6 pm to Tuesday 6 pm, there was a high trend of rainfall in Chittagong, Khulna and Barisal divisions. Satkhira received the highest rainfall of 85 mm during this period. 3 mm of rain has fallen in Dhaka.

According to the special weather bulletin on Tuesday evening, the deep low pressure over Northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas moved northwestward and crossed the Bangladesh coast near Khepupara at 6 pm on Tuesday. Currently, it is located in the form of deep depression over Khulna and adjoining areas of Bangladesh. It may gradually weaken further northwestward.

Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra sea ports have been asked to show local warning signal number 3 in the warning. It also said that all fishing boats and trawlers in North Bay of Bengal and deep seas have been asked to remain in safe shelter till further orders.

The Meteorological Department also said that Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay of Bengal.

According to the weather forecast for the next 24 hours from 6 pm on Tuesday, there may be light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds temporarily in most places of Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and many places in Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions. At the same time, moderate to heavy rainfall may occur in some parts of the country. During this time, day and night temperature may decrease by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius across the country.

A mild heat wave is flowing over Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Kisheraganj, Manikganj, Chuadanga and Kushtia districts along with Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. It can be mitigated from some places.
