Dengue: 10 deaths, 1,757 hospitalizations reported in a single day

Dhaka, August 5: Ten people died of dengue in the last 24 hours till 8 am on Friday across the country. With this, the number of people who have died due to dengue this year has reached 293. In addition, 1,757 people were admitted to hospitals at the same time.

This information was shared in the dengue report signed by Md. Zahidul Islam, in charge of the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday, August 4.

According to the DGHS, 1,757 people were admitted to various government and private hospitals of the country due to dengue from 8 am on Thursday to 8 am on Friday. Among them 892 residents of Dhaka and 865 from outside Dhaka. Besides, eight out of 10 people who died in 24 hours were residents of Dhaka, and remaining two were from outside Dhaka.

From January 1 to August 4 this year, 61,473 people were infected with dengue. Among them, 33,454 people are residents of Dhaka. 28,019 people were admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka. At the same time, 52,154 people got clearance from the hospital. Among them, 28,652 people live in Dhaka and 23,502 people outside Dhaka.
